Turn Birding Into An Epic Adventure

Getting Started

New to Birding?

You don’t need experience, gear, or a checklist to begin. Birding starts with noticing — and this short guide will help you take your first step.

Bird of the Week

Week 18 slows things down and gets low. Towhees are large sparrows that live in the leaves—scratching, rustling, and disappearing into brush. You’ll often hear them before you see them, and once you learn the pattern, those little bursts of movement start showing up everywhere.

How FeatherQuest Began

FeatherQuest began as a simple idea: turn everyday birding into something playful, meaningful, and shareable. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a community-backed adventure.

The first edition of FeatherQuest was launched through Kickstarter, funded by birders and explorers who believed in making nature more accessible, joyful, and fun for everyone.

What people are saying

The real magic came when we took small groups out into nature for first-hand experience. Mike was an enthusiastic and well-prepared host, and he helped everyone see and identify so many birds.
